Watersports at Dromineer
At just under 14 km from the cottages lies the pretty village of Dromineer. The marina, which becomes very busy in the summer months is home to Lough Derg Lifeboat Station - the first inland lifeboat station in Ireland. Home also to Lough Derg Yacht Club which is the 3rd oldest yacht club in the world and venue of many popular nautical events. Dromineer is also the location of Shannon Sailing Ltd where you may hire a boat or visit for boat repairs. Nenagh Canoe Club meet here weekly and run classes and events during the summer. You will find a warm welcome and delicious refreshments at the Lakeside Cafe overlooking the lake. The Whiskey Still restaurant is found near to the lake and is well known for quality and value for money.
Portumna Bridge & Quay
Portumna is another destination for tourists interested in boating and fishing. There are harbours and moorings. Pleasure craft can be privately hired at Emerald Star Line cruisers at Connacht Harbour.
